    Currently, India has 28 States and 8 Union Territories. Each State has administrative, authorities and judicial capital in some states all three functions are conducted in one capital.

    Each state & UTs have their own language, clothing, cuisine, and look. Every state is ruled by a Chief Minister.

    3. State and Central Government Relation is confederate.

     Union Territories:-

    1. The Union Territories are controlled by the Central Government.

    2. The President is the Executive Head of Union Territories.

    3. Union Territories are united with the Central Government.

    4. Controlled by the Administrator which is appointed by the President of India. 
       
    5. UT all power is in Lieutenant hand and Lieutenant is the real head.

    State in India: Union territories of India and their capitals Important Update  

    Before we get into details about the Union Territories of India, let’s look up at the recent update on UTs as April 2020.

    ➤ Before January 2020 India had 9 UT, the UT Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli was in Two Separate Union Territory. 

    ➤ After 26th January 2020 India has 8 Union Territories, the union territories Daman and Diu, Dadar, and Nagar Haveli have become a single Union Territory, for the merger the UTs have Come down to Eight UTs.

    ➤ On August 5, the Central Government announced the revocation of special status accorded to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and the division of its two Union Territories, namely the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

    At Present India have 8 Union Territory and 28 states. The former state of Jammu and Kashmir has been divided into two UT’s.

    The newly formed Union Territories have been formed under the Reorganization Act Passed by the Parliament on August 2020, at present there are 8 union territories in India.
